Eight-division champion, Manny Pacquiao, appears to have plenty of fights still left in him.
The soon to be 45-year-old Filipino boxing icon last fought and lost to Yordenis Ugas in August 2021 and retired soon after, but he’s since reopened different sets of doors for a possible ring return.
Last December, Pacquiao came back for an exhibition match against martial artist, DK Yoo. Earlier this year, he also announced his desire to compete in the 2024 Olympics.
In a revealing interview with Fight Hub TV founder, Marcos Villegas, Pacquiao proclaimed that he’s open to a pair of other high-profiled matchups.
“I’m still active and training. I have an exhibition match in December in Japan. We are working on it, the opponent. We’re working with Floyd Mayweather. But we’re still working on it,” said Pacquiao.
Pacquiao said he’s also open to a professional bout with Mayweather if Mayweather is open to it.
Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) then transitioned and said he’s ready to take it even one step further for a professional bout against one of the sport’s most brutal knockout artists.
“Gervonta Davis is a good fighter. He’s a good fighter, yeah. If he comes up to 147, we can fight – 145, maybe. That’s not a problem for me. I am an experienced fighter,” said Pacquiao.
Davis considers himself a lightweight fighter and has only fought once past the 135-pound limit – a 2021 super lightweight match against Mario Barrios.
Pacquiao has faced and beaten some of the best fighters of his generation across a variety of weight classes, including: Marco Antonio Barrera (twice), Juan Manuel Marquez (twice; also one loss, one draw), Erik Morales (one loss as well), Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Shane Mosley, Antonio Margarito, Keith Thurman, Adrien Broner, Timothy Bradley (one loss as well), Lucas Matthysse, Jessie Vargas, Chris Algieri, and Brandon Rios, among others.
Pacquiao was supposed to fight Errol Spence Jr. in his last fight but Spence suffered an eye injury days before the fight, opening the door for Ugas to step in to pull off the upset.
