 NTC observes one week remembrance service for Kofigo

The Management and Staff of New Times Corporation (NTC) have held a one-week remembrance service for the late Mr Maxwell Dodzi Akpeko, an electrician with the Technical Services Department of the cor­poration.

The remains of late Mr Akpeko also known as Kofigo who had worked with the corporation as electrician, since December 1, 1998 until his demise on September 6, 2023 will be laid to rest at the Labadi cemetery on September 30, after burial service at his residence at Alajo, a suburb in Accra.

The solemn occasion saw the staff of the corporation as well as family members and friends clad in black and red.

The Acting Managing Direc­tor of NTC, Mr Dave Agbenu described Mr Akpeko as a brother who is always seen with him in his office saying “we striked acquain­tance when he joined the corpo­ration and we can chat the whole day.”

He urged the staff to take their health seriously, saying the physical wellbeing of everyone was very important and point out further that with aging “we are prone to some sicknesses.”

Mr Agbenu who is also the Ed­itor of the Ghanaian Times newspa­per said “to lose two staff sudden­ly is too much pain, we should take our healthcare seriously.”

The Acting Editor of the Spec­tator, Mrs Georgina Quaittoo, in an exhortation urged the staff and family of the deceased to put their hope in God.

She said death was inevitable but when it occurred there was the need to put hope in God.

“As we grief, we should know God is with us, get close to him and accept him as our Lord and personal Saviour.”

The Secretary of the Profes­sional and Managerial Staff Union (PMSU,) Mr Andrew Parker, described the late Kofigo as quiet person and no one could tell whether he was happy or sad.

He said no one could escape death, hence the need for everyone to give their live to Jesus Christ “so that we may be remembered in eternity.”

Present were Acting Admin­istration and Human Resource Manager, Mr Suleman Osman, Channel Marketing and Circulation Manager, Mr Alfred Koomson.

Also present were the wife of the deceased Mrs Cecilia Akpeko; son, Abel Akpeko and brother, William Alou.
