Murder of girl by uncle for money ritual case: Docket forwarded to A-G

Docket on the case involving suspected murder of a seven-year-old girl by his uncle, Augustine Afari, and a spiritualist, at Wassa Nkyirifi in the Western Region, has been forwarded to the office of Attorney-General (A-G) for legal advice.

Police arrested Augustine Afari, 22, small scale miner, and the spiritualist, Osei Kofi, alias Agya Osei, for allegedly killing the girl for money rituals.

The girl, Spendylove Adjei was a Kindergarten pupil at Wassa Nkyirifi D/A primary school.

According to the biological father of the victim, Kwabena Badu, also a small scale miner, at Wassa Agyakuso, the daughter was taken to her grandmother, Abena Obenewaa, at Wassa Nkyirifi to attend school.

He said Spendylove fell sick and could not attend school and her grandmother left her in the care of her son, Afari and went to farm.

The grandmother returned and could not find the granddaughter, and when she confronted Afari, he said he left Spendylove in the house to buy something.

When Afari was arrested and taken to Wassa Akropong police station, he denied the allegation leveled against him and was released on police enquiry bail.

Starr News gathered that, Pastor at Dunkwa-On-Offin, James Coffie Nkansah informed the family and police that Afari confided in him that he killed his niece Spendylove.

Afari said the spiritualist advised him to kill the girl and bring her head for money ritual.

Afari allegedly took the girl to an abandoned galamsey site, beheaded her, buried the headless body, put the head in polythene bag and hid it in the bush.

After Afari was granted police enquiry bail, he took the head to the spiritualist, but was told to return the head and bury it at where he buried the body of the victim because the money ritual won’t work. – starrfm.com
