Man remanded over alleged murder

The Ashaiman District Court has remanded in police custody, Abraham Ayah, a 21-year-old unemployed man, for allegedly murdering Ms Jennifer Tetteh.

The court presided over by Mr Derick Parden Eshun, remanded Ayah, whose plea was not taken, to reappear on March 13.

Inspector Tetteh Nartey, prosecuting, said the complainant in the case is Ms Stella Matetsu, a resident of Shai Hills, Afienya, in the Greater Accra Region.

The court heard that complainant reported to the Afienya police that there was a misunderstanding between Ayeh and Tetteh within the yard of Taiyu Fishing Net and Equipment Manufacturing Company Limited, at Shai Hills, Afienya.

The prosecution said according to the complainant, Ayeh pushed Ms Tetteh onto the cemented floor, causing her to fall unconscious and she was resuscitated by some neighbours.

Insp Nartey stated that Tetteh, who was found unconscious in her room, was rushed to the Tema General Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival and the body was deposited at the mortuary at the same health facility.

The prosecution said Ayah and his accomplice, Francis Ntsiful, were arrested, and the police accompanied the complainant to the hospital, where the body was inspected, but there were no marks of assault on it.

Insp Nartey said that investigations revealed that a misunderstanding ensued between Ayah and Tetteh, both employees of Taiyu Fishing Net and Equipment Manufacturing Company Limited.

The prosecution said due to the misunderstanding, Ayeh stopped working at the company.

Insp Nartey said while Ayeh was at home, Ntsiful called him on the phone and complained that Tetteh, referred to him as a wizard.

The prosecution said Ayah confronted the victim at a hostel within the company resulting in a scuffle during which the accused pushed her (Tetteh), and she fell on the cemented floor, and became unconscious.

Insp Nartey said investigation was ongoing, adding a pathologist was yet to perform autopsy on the body. — GNA
