Late La Mantse begins journey home on March 14

The royal funeral of the late Paramount Chief of the La Traditional Area, Nii Dr KpoboTettey Tsuru III, has been scheduled for Monday, March 14 to Sunday, March 20, 2022, the Acting La Dzaasetse, Major General Samuel Nii Anum Odotei (rtd) has said.


 Launching the funeral activities in Accra yesterday, Maj Gen Odotei (rtd) said on Wednesday, March 16the mortal remains of the late La Mantse would be laid in state for a file past.

He said the filing past would be opened to the people of La and the general public while on Thursday, March 17, political and traditional leaders would be allowed to pay their last respect to the late chief.

He mentioned also that there would be a non-denominational burial service at 10: am on Friday, March 18, at the forecourt of the La Royal Palace, after which there would be a private burial.

 Maj. Gen. Odotei said in honour of the late chief, there would be a ban on funerals and other social activities and general noise making from March 7 to March20, 2022.

He said the late president of the La Traditional Council died on Monday, February 4, 2019, adding that since his demise, members of the traditional council have been making preparations to give Nii Dr Tsuru III a befitting burial.

He called on the people of La, as well as its residents to adhere to the funeral restrictions and activities.
