GNFS organises pull-out for former Deputy Accra Regional Commander

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), has organised a colourful pull-out ceremony in honour of Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) Godwin Damalie, a former Deputy Accra Regional Commander, in Accra yesterday.

The event, organised at the Accra Regional Command, was to mark the official retirement of ACFO Damalie, after 28 years of dedicated service to the country.

The Chief Fire Officer (CFO) of the GNFS, Mr Edwin Ekow Blankson, Directors of the GNFS, Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South,Mr Alfred Okoe Vanderpujie, municipal and district fire commanders and personnel from sister security agencies among others, were at the event.

The CFO described ACFO Damalie as a simple, respectful and duty- conscious person, who contributed his quota to the development of the GNFS.

He commended ACFO Damalie for his contribution to the Service over the years.

Mr Blankson urged GNFS personnel to emulate the principles of ACFO Damalie, and leave a legacy when they exit the service, adding that they should protect the image of the service.

The CFO called on personnel to channel their grievances according to laid-down procedures of the GNFS, instead of sending them to the media.

The Greater Accra Regional Fire Officer (ACFO) James Emmanuel Quao, thanked the retired officer for his dedicated service  to the country.

“You are a very dedicated, hardworking, selfless, affable and very accommodating officer. Your devotion and loyalty to the service has not gone unnoticed,” he added.

ACFO Damalie (Rtd) expressed gratitude to the CFO and other GNFS personnel, for supporting him to discharge his duties.

“I wanted to express my appreciation to all personnel, who contributed in shaping my professional life as a fireman,” he said.

ACFO Damalie (Rtd) urged the personnel to be principled, humble and disciplined in the discharge of their duties.

He reiterated the call for personnel to seek redress by using laid-down procedures.

As part of the occasion, citations were recited, and gifts presented to ACFO Damalie and Divisional Officer Grade three Paulina Ansah, Officer in charge of Procurement at the Command, as they both bow out of active service.
