They were tested in the culinary arts of cooking in strict adherence to maintaining high standard of cleanliness in the preparation for meals, the cooking tools to use at every step of the cooking, and finally the outcome of the meal in terms of taste after preliminary answers to questions from the Home Science syllabus to complete the theoretical aspect of the competition.

The competition lead-sponsor was Onga food seasonings, a subsidiary of the Promasidor Group and supported by Yazz home tissues, a subsidiary of Lexta Ghana Ltd.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Times after the competition, Linda Martey, Onga Brands Manager, said the company decided to sponsor the competition which was in its second year, to nurture young talents in the culinary business.

She said the objective was also to introduce the youth to the experience and taste of using the variety of Onga food seasonings to prepare a delicious meal to taste.

Ms Martey said the students in using the Onga food seasonings to prepare their food would develop the taste of the spices which had made Onga seasoning a natural choice for every “Mama’s helping hand”.

Mr Ernest Okai Tawiah, Sales and Marketing Manager at Lexta said the company felt the need to give back to society, as part their corporate social responsibility.

This, he said was because their company’s products of disposal tissues for personal hygiene and home use such as the kitchen napkins, had become favourites of many households.

He advised the students to study very hard as they continue to use Yazz products to maintain their personal hygiene and household cleanliness.
