3 suspects remanded for illegal possession of arms

The Ho Magistrate Court has remanded into police custody, three men accused of possessing arms without lawful authority.  

Nervis Otu Laryea, 33, Ebenezer Osei, 38, and Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, 37,

would re-appear before court on July 22.  

The court presided over by Mr Robert Addo heard that the police patrol team intercepted a Toyota Corolla car with the suspects on board, on the Kpando-Have road, in the Volta Region,  

According to prosecution, a search in concealed apartment of the vehicle, revealed three foreign-manufactured, 40 rounds of ammunition, 27 assorted cellular phones and Toshiba laptops.  

The prosecution said that Mubarak told the police during interrogation that he bought the phones from a man at Alavanyo-Wudidi, but did not mention the man’s name.  

Osie said that he was returning from a shrine from the same town after seeking spiritual assistance for his business.  

The court further heard that the car which was acquired by Laryea from Togo had no documents.  

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of the Volta Region, DCOP E. Oduro-Kwateng, at a press conference in Ho on Wednesday appealed to motorists to cooperate with the police in enforcing traffic regulations.
