Catholic Bishops’ Confab condemns Prophet Kobi’s comments

The Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference has condemned disparaging comments of Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi about Ashanti, Ewe and Fante women.

In a press release signed by Most Reverend Philip Naameh, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Tamale and the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference, it stated at the just ended Bishops’ Conference that, there was a deliberation on recent statements made by the founder and leader of the Glorious Wave Church International, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi about various women.

In the statements, the prophet said judgemental and hurtful words about Asante, Fante and Ewe women which they condemned as a sign of disrespect to women saying that a pastor of a church or anybody for that matter should not talk the way he did adding that such statements could bring division not only in the church but also in the nation.

They explained that since we were already living in a nation with so many polarisations on political lines, pastors should promote unity and peace in churches so that there could be places where people from different political and ethnic groups would feel welcome.

They therefore urged Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi to render an unqualified apology to all women, especially the Asante, Fante and Ewe women whom he mentioned.
