The Ziavi Senior High Technical School (ZISTECH) which was established in 2014 by the people of the community was yesterday absorbed officially into the public-school system.
The ceremony was performed by the Chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osie-Opare at the campus at Ziavi-Dzogbe, near Ho yesterday.
She commended the people of Ziavi for their rare self-help spirit and entreated other traditional areas to emulate the good example of the people of Ziavi.
“This will definitely enable more children to benefit from the Free SHS policy,” said the Chief of Staff.
Furthermore, she noted that the absorption of ZISTECH into the public-school stream held a lot of prospects for the local economy of Ziavi and its environs and also would lift up the area to greater development heights.
Madam Osei-Opare entreated the students to make use of the serene learning environment in Ziavi and study diligently towards a decent future.

Madam Osei-Opare later instituted a teacher motivational fund for the school and made a personal donation of GHC20,000 to it.
She explained that teachers needed to be motivated to give off their best in the classroom.
The Chief of Staff also presented a digital piano to the school.
The Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, announced that the government had approved the setting up of an ICT Centre for ZISTECH.
That was corroborated by Madam Osei-Opare who gave the assurance that the computer laboratory would be equipped with not less than 20 desk-top computers for a start.
An elated Togbe Kwaku Ayim IV, Paramount Chief of Ziavi said that the inclusion of ZISTECH into the public school was a great move which would benefit generations yet unborn, from far and near.
He touched on the policy which allowed pregnant girls to remain in the school to continue their studies and called for an uncompromising policy to deal swiftly and ruthlessly with men who put the girls through the ordeal of pregnancy while in school.
The acting headmaster of ZISTECH, Mr Godwin Amelor who is also the Ho Municipal Director of Education, said that the school which started on a humble note seven years now had an enrolment of 207.
He said that ZISTECH cherished a vision of supplying its products to the universities and other tertiary institutions in the Ho municipality, and that required efforts to address the infrastructural deficit on the campus.
