Work begins on 7.5 kilometre Yendi inner city roads

 Work be­gins on the reconstruc­tion of the 7.5 kilome­tre Yendi inner city roads in the Northern Region, to open up the municipali­ty to facilitate trade.

The roads are the Nayili­fong-Gukpegu road, Waayili road, and Kumfong roads.

The aim of the project is to improve the quality of the existing roads, facilitate mobility within and between different communities to facilitate trade and service and is expected to be completed within six months.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Yendi Constituency in the Northern Region, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, on Sunday joined traditional leaders to cut sod for work to commence.

The construction of the roads is being executed by a Brazilian Joint Venture constitute of two compa­nies, Andrade Gutierrez and Ode­brecht Engenharia e Construcao, with funding from Government of Ghana(GoG).

At a short ceremony here in Yendi, the MP said roads would be built with high quality standards in road construction as much as pos­sible, and respecting the standards of safety to prevent and avoid accidents in the municipality.

The MP stated that the idea was to deliver a road that would meet the necessities of the road users and the communities involved, promoting an environment of cooperation.

Alhaji Mahama added that the construction of the roads was necessary because it was a promise he made to them during the 2020 election, adding that it was his priority to help the entire Yendi Municipal get development to attract investors.

In a speech read for him, Ndan Ya-Na Abukari Mahama thanked the MP for the number of projects that he had brought to the area.

He encouraged the MP to bring more of such “impactful projects” to meet the desires and expecta­tions of the people of Yendi and Dagbon in general.

Ndan Ya-Na expressed his com­mitment to continue to liaise with the MP to get the needed develop­ment for the people of Yendi and its environment.
