U/West residents asked to support police fight crime

The Upper West Regional Police commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Peter Anombugri Ndekugri, has appealed to residents to volunteer information to the police to enable the police to clamp down on crime.

“Fighting crime is a shared responsibility, therefore, the public is expected to volunteer credible information to the police to help weed out miscreants from the region”, he said.

ACP Ndekugri made the appeal when he met members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim mission at Wa, in the region, at the weekend, to sensitise them to issues of crime and security.

ACP Ndekugri, who was formally introduced to the group as the new Police Commander educated followers of Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission on new security protocol introduced by the command, to help sustain the fight against crime in the region.

He stated that to minimise crime and improve upon security in the region, the police was going to take particular interest in the movement of people and vehicles.

ACP Ndekugri pledged that the police would work with the public to enable them (police) ensure peace and order and combat crime.

The Regional Chief Imam of the Ahmaddiyya Mission, Mulvi Masroor Ahmad, congratulated ACP Ndekugri on his new role in the police service, and gave the assurance that the mission would support the Police Commander to achive his objectives.

He appealed to the adherents of Ahmadiya Muslim mission to be law abiding and assist the police in the discharge of their duties.

The Regional Chief Imam led the adherents to pray for good health and protection for the police to enable them to effectively deliver on their mandate.
