Screen goddess Enyonam bags another award

Host and Executive producer of one of Ghana’s popular television (TV) shows, Biz Trends Ms Enyonam Manye, has been in the media fraternity for about a decade now.

Her show gained notoriety for its focus on young entrepreneurs who break all odds to become successful in the world of entrepreneurs.

Due to its impact on the society, Biz Trends has won several awards, the most recent one being the Small and Medium scale Enterprise (SME) Media Reportage Award at the just ended 6th SME Ghana Awards (SMEGA) 2018.

The screen goddess has become a force to reckon with in the television industry of the country as more businesses begin to rally behind her in efforts to prove to the youth that entrepreneurship is possible.

She is a graduate of the Jayee University College (JAYEE) and the Africa University College of Communication (AUCC) where she studied Journalism and Strategic Communications respectively.

Times Weekend (TW) caught up with the beautiful TV host and philanthropist,  Enyonam Manye  and delved deep into her life first as a humanitarian and secondly as a celebrity.

 Here are excerpts:

TW: You look very happy this afternoon, can you share your happiness secret?

Enyonam: I cannot hide my joy because just last night my show won an award again and I owe this to God, my viewers, sponsors and fans.

TW: Congratulations once again.

Enyonam: Thank you

TW: Currently Biz Trends is doing so well and Ghanaians appreciate it, especially because of the exposure you are giving to young entrepreneurs. What motivates you to do this?

Enyonam: My passion to see humanity excel drives me. I love seeing young people making it in life through determination and resilence. That is what pushes me to do more. We are even coming out with another show tailored towards the agriculture sector, which will soon hit your TV screens so watch out.

TW: Why agric?

Enyonam: Biz Trends Concept wants to create awareness about the opportunities in the sector and also encourage the youth, especially unemployed graduates to venture into agriculture. I can assure them that they will not regret it. The opportunities there are unimaginably enormous. We will bring successful farmers on the show to share their success stories with the public.

TW: Wow! This is a laudable initiative. Kudos Enyonam. You are also known for your heart of gold. Despite your age, you have touched so many lives. Ghana is proud of you. Share with us what your next humanitarian project is about?

TW: We have chosen a community in Kasoa called Maheam and we want to provide vocational training for school drop outs and young single mothers in the area. This is our way of celebrating the second anniversary of Biz Trends.

TW: That is amazing. What are some of the challenges you face as a TV host and producer?

Enyonam: Even though I know there are challenges in everything one chooses to do, I cannot complain, I always ensure I look at the positive side of whatever I do. I have come to realise that dwelling on the negative will rather make u depressed so all I will say is God has been good to me. I remember we use to rent some of our equipment for shooting, including cameras but by the grace of God we have bought all we need for production. The future of Biz Trends is bright. That I am very sure of.

TW: I love that, Enyonam can never be broken. What do you have to say about the business forums that are occasionally organised by companies where they invite prominent businessmen to brainstorm on issues concerning businesses in Ghana?

Enyonam: I don’t have a problem with such forums; the only thing I am not okay with is how they refuse to put the spotlight on SMEs. If you don’t give them the chance to show the world what they can offer, how will they become popular? I will entreat organisers of such forums to please give the chance to young entrepreneurs as well, instead of sidelining them.

TW: I agree with you. Who are your role models in the industry?

Enyonam: Stacy Amoateng, Gifty Anti, Nana Aba Anamoah, and Israel Laryea.

TW: Who are your most memorable guests on your show?

Enyonam: I can never forget about Barfour Nketia Sarpong and John Kuma. They are highly innovative, industrious and kind. There have been equally good people too whose sense of humour I cannot forget. All my guests have impacted me one way or the other and I appreciate them all.

TW: Let’s get a little personal here. You appear on TV very often, you have many fans across Ghana and beyond, we were seeing you with your wedding ring on but suddenly Enyonam appears on TV again but this time without the ring, does this mean you are no longer married? Please your fans want to know. In fact we want to know.

Enyonam: (Smiles) hmmmm…. Raissa please can we talk about this some other time. I promise to share my story with my fans one day. My fans should just watch out for more thrilling episodes of Biz Trends. I promise them more revealing things. I appreciate the support I keep getting from them. I want them to know that I love them.

TW: You have beautifully dodged my question.

Enyonam: (laughs).

TW: Finally, what advice do you have for people who want to be like you?

Enyonam: I encourage them to persevere, they should not give up. Everything is possible to achieve, just keep working hard. You cannot reap where you have not sown so work hard and be humble. One day you will achieve more than you dreamed of.

TW: Indeed, the fruit of hardwork and determination is success. Thank you Enyonam for your time.

Enyonam: You are most welcome.
