Schindler in, Lamptey out …of Black Stars squad against Angola

Kingsley Schindler has been called up to replace the injured Tariq Lamptey for this week’s TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Palancas Negras of Angola.

The German born player who is yet to be capped by Ghana arrived in Accra on Monday to join the rest of the squad for the two crucial matches slated for Kumasi and Luanda, respectively.

Kingsley Shindler, 29, plays for German Bundesliga side FC Köln.

Tariq Lamptey who was part of the 25-man squad that was announced for the two matches has been forced to withdraw due to injury.

Meanwhile Seventeen 17 players were in camp when the team moved to Kumasi yesterday.

They included Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Joseph Wollacott, Alexander Djiku, Denis Odoi, Kingsley Schindler, Patrick Kpozo, Daniel Amartey, Joseph Aidoo, Andre Ayew, Joseph Painstil, Ransford Yeboah, Inaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo, Jordan Ayew, Mohammed Salisu, Majeed Ashimeru and Edmund Addo.

The other players are expected in camp this morning ahead of the trip to Kumasi.

In another development, the Black Meteors Coach, Ibrahim Tanko has invited eight foreign based players for the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Algeria.

Ghana will travel to Annaba for the first leg on Fridaybefore hosting the North Africans at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Wednesday, March 28, 2023.

The invited players include FC Basel midfielder Emmanuel Essiam, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku of Sporting Lisbon and Emmanuel Yeboah of CFR Cruj.

The rest are Alex Sarfo, Ernest Nuamah (FC Nordsjaelland), Zubairu Ibrahim (FK Jedinstvo Ub) former Hearts of Oak midfielder Adams Salim (FC Cincinnati) and Daniel Afriyie Banierh who now plays for FC Zurich.

The aforementioned foreign based players have all arrived in Accra and teamed up with the local component ahead of the game.

The winner of the two legs qualify to the TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. –GFA
