Samuel Amo Tobbin Foundation donates to Ampain Refugee Camp

The Samuel Amo Tobbin Foundation has donated drugs, toiletries, soft drinks, biscuits and used clothing to the Ampain Refugee Camp at Ampain in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

The Executive Director of the Foundation, Mrs Harriet N. Asante, presenting the items, said it was part of the social corporate responsibility of the foundation to reach out to people who were in great need.

She said those at the camp, mostly from La Cote D’Ivoire, did not come there by their own will, but circumstances beyond their control compelled them to flee to safer grounds in Ghana.

The Senior Physician in charge of the Ampain Refugee Camp Health Centre, Madam Patricia Opomea, thanked the donors for the gesture, saying the drugs had come at a time the centre was lacking many drugs, and added it would go a long way to solve the shortage of drugs at the centre.

She appealed to the government, philanthropists and NGOs into health, to come to the assistance of the health centre by giving medical supplies.

Present at the ceremony were the Deputy Minister of the Interior, Mr Henry Quartey and the chief of Ampain, Nana Nyamekye Fofoli II.
