The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana has invested about GH¢849,698.80 into the construction of mechanised boreholes in TsitoAwudome in the Ho West District of the Volta Region for the church.
The project, which commenced in 2021, was in line with the church’s vision to produce drinking water in commercial quantity that could be sold as money making business for the church.
The Prime Natural Mineral Water Limited will produce 2,000 bags of sachet water daily with a brand name as Prime Water.
The inaugural ceremony which coincided with the 10th General Assembly of the church was held under the theme: “Revive us again, O Lord! Heal and restore us.”
In a symbolic inauguration of the facility yesterday, the moderator of the church, Rt Rev.Dr Lt Col Bliss Divine Agbeko, stated that the drilling of the boreholes with other equipment was funded by the church with support from other benevolent members of the church.
He indicated that ‘water is life’ since every single individual needed water for survival.
“It is for this reason that this project is very dear to the church, to make it a lifelong project,” he added.
The Moderator urged those who would be in charge of the facility to be transparent and accountable to the church.
He explained further that the facility, the first of its kind, would become a one-stop business development and investment hub for the church that would generate funds towards other projects for the church.
Rev. Agbeko assured that the facility would be replicated in the other 15 Presbyteries of the church.
He said the church had done a lot in the development of this nation through education, health, agriculture and other social interventions.
The Moderator expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of Tsito and members of the local congregation of the church for their support.
Ms Eyram Oforiwaa Wordekpor, Executive Secretary of the factory, said the establishment of Prime Natural Mineral Drinking Water Ltd factory would bring community development to reduce social vices such as robbery and smoking among the youth.
She said the economic viability of the water project was to provide employment and income into the coffers of the church, adding that15 people were to be employed to start production.
Executive Secretary said currently they had the production room, treatment area, tank farm, hygiene station, changing rooms, washrooms, storage loading bay and administration.
Togbe Gobo Dake XII, Dufia of Tsito Awudome, in his remarks lauded the church leadership for its vision to provide drinking water not only for church members but surrounding communities in the area.
He said the church should not only focus on the spiritual needs of members but deliver on its mandate of growth and development that would ameliorate the plight of the people.
