Papaase Local Council of Churches inaugurated

The Papaase Local Council of Churches in the Awutu Senya District in the Central Region was on Sunday inaugurated to promote the welfare of members and also spearhead the development of their communities.

The group comprising 36 churches in the area is under the leadership of Pastor Prince Antwi of the Assemblies of God Church, Papaase.

Other executives are Reverend Owusu Ansah of the Christ on Top Church, Vice Chair; Rev. Korsah Yorke, Fountain of Yeshua, General Secretary and Emmanuel Quaye as the Assistant Secretary.

The rest include Ms Faustina Mbany of the Church of Pentecost, Organiser; Prophet Collins Owusu, financial controller with Linda Brobbey, Rev. Dan Totimeh and Rev. Ben Frimpong as co-opted members.

Rev. Antwi in his inaugural address said the churches decided to unite and forge a united front against the ills in society towards winning more souls for the Lord.

The Kasoa area, he explained has always been in the news for the wrong reasons and since their congregations are also in the vicinity it behoves them as leaders to come together and chart a new path that would advance the socio-economic development of their communities in order to improve the lives of members.

“Churches are not only established to spread the word of God but to also seek the welfare of members, build a harmonious and peaceful society in order to operate perfectly for the redemption of mankind,” he added.

Rev. Antwi stated that worshipping God is not about the congregation one belongs to but the ability to unite and build a strong society that can stand tall in spite of all adversaries.

He stressed the resolve of members to boldly speak against acts that has the tendency to disturb the peace of the country.

“Immoral act including gayism and Lesbianism must not be entertained, they don’t have a place in the country as all religions seriously frown on it,” Rev. Antwi added.

Rev. Yorke indicated that the event would help project the church’s advancement of Christ Kingdom as there is no easy way to address or solve people’s brokenness than to feed them with the word of God.

The occasion, he explained would help the churches to operate freely and within the confines of the law, adding “it is a not a licence to disturb public peace but an opportunity to pool resources to improve the welfare of members”.

The District Chief Executive of Awutu Senya, Joseph Aidoo, commended the group for coming under one umbrella which he said was a good sign of things to come.

He urged the leaders to investigate the background of new members before admitting them, explaining that there are rules and regulations governing the registration of all churches hence the need to closely monitor them before the registration.
