MP appeals to GHA to repair 2 bridges in Nabdam District.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nabdam Constituency, in the Upper East Region, Dr Mark Kurt Nawaana, has appealed to the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) to repair two major bridges that link Pelungo and Sekoti in the Nabdam District.

The bridges serve communities, including Kulpeliga, Nihbaah, Koozoo, Zalinwor, Tolla, Bapeilla, Digaar, Datuku.

The MP said if the bridge was left to collapse, it would prevent the people from accessing the Pelungo Market to engage in economic activities.

Dr Nawaana noted that the people trade in guinea fowls, goats, sheep and cattle, and called on the GHA to repair the bridges immediately, to facilitate social and economic activities.

The MP regretted that two people drowned in a river at Pelungo last year, adding that “up till now nothing has been done about the construction of the bridges and the rains have set in again.”

He said “working on the bridges is not a problem, but when a development issue takes a political twist, development is derailed and the beneficiary communities suffer”.

All attempts to contact the District Chief Executive, Madam Agnes Anamoo, to get her version of the story failed because she could not be reached on her cell phone.
