MON-TRAN Limited supports police with 10 motor cycles

MON-TRAN Limited, a company in cash transit business, has donated 10 motor cycles worth GH₵150,000 to the Police Service towards promoting police patrols and visibility in the communities.

The donation was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MON-TRAN, Mr Anthony Minkah, in making the presentation in Accra yesterday stressed the need for the public to support the Police in ensuring that the crime wave in the country was reduced.

“On the basis of this cordial relationship between MON-TRAN and the Police Service, the company decided to present 10 Yamaha motorcycles to the Police Service as part of our social responsibility to assist the Police in fighting crimes in the communities,” he added.

He said police visibility in the communities was crucial to reduce the crime wave in the country.

Mr Minkah commended the personnel of the Service for their dedication to duty and in ensuring that lives and properties were protected in the country.

He assured the Police Service of the company’s continuous support in helping them achieve their mandate.

The CEO urged other companies, organisations and philanthropists to support the police by providing logistics to help them in the discharge of their duties.

The Director-General of National Patrols Department of the Ghana Police Service, Commissioner of Police (COP), Paul Manly Awini, who spoke on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, said the cycles would help in promoting police visibility in the communities.

He said the Police Service was currently rolling out community crime combat where personnel would be visible in the communities and engage with residents to ensure safety.

The Director-General said under the crime combat, police districts would be divided into two zones and trained police personnel would be deployed with side ammunition to partner with members of the communities.

He assured the public of the Police Administration’s commitment in ensuring that lives and properties were saved even at the peril of their lives.

COP Awini commended the company for the kind gesture and called on other companies to emulate MON-TRAN.

He said the motorcycles would be used for their intended purpose and maintained to expand their lifespan.
