The Lakeside Estate has won the Real Estate Company of the Year 2022 at the 35th Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA) anniversary and awards held over the weekend.
The company also won Best in High-End Community set-up, Gated Community-Middle End and Green Award and Best in Middle-End Residential under the year of review.
The award was in recognition for the company’s success factor in the real estate sector, construction innovation, technological innovation and ecological, among others.
The Minister of Works and Housing, Francis Asenso-Boakye in a speech read on his behalf, revealed that the rent Act of 1963 was under reform to encourage private sector investment while protecting vulnerable tenants.
He commended the Ghana’s real estate sector for its resilience in facing challenges and embracing opportunities.
Addressing future challenges, he highlighted the importance of affordable housing, sustainable development, and technological advancement.
He encouraged Ghanaians to seize the opportunity presented by the newly introduced rent scheme, aimed at providing substantial relief and support to the public.
GREDA President, Mr Patrick Ebo Bonful, in his address commended businesses for their input in the economic growth, however charged them to continue to rationalise their operations in the wake of Ghana’s economic challenges.
He said successful housing through stakeholder collaboration was key aspect of urban and peri-urban development that focuses on the involvement and cooperation of relevant stakeholders within the housing sector.
“This approach recognises that housing is not only a basic necessity but also a crucial factor in social, economic, and environmental well-being,” he said.
He therefore, called for multidisciplinary approach that includes the active participation of different stakeholders such as governments, real estate developers, planners, architects, land surveyors, among others to ensure the creation of substantive and inclusive housing solutions.
“By fostering effective collaboration, stakeholders can leverage their unique expertise, resources, and perspectives to address the complex challenges associated with housing,” he said.
He commended Lakeside Estate on its ability to ensure business continuity in the face of the challenges brought about by the pandemic and other environmental factors in the year under review.
The Managing Director of Lakeside, Dr Prince-Joseph Ayiku, said his outfit would not relent on its efforts but would continue to provide quality, but affordable homes in a well-designed and planned neighbourhood.
“Our vision is to become one of the best customer focused Real Estate Companies in Ghana that will expand through the building of unique variety of quality housing units that are environmentally friendly, affordable to many and conforming to the Ghana Building Code,” he said.
According to him, Lakeside Estate embarked on its journey with humble beginnings, but it has since undergone a remarkable transformation over the past two decades, quoting Colin Powell, “there are no secrets to success. It is the results of preparation, hard work and learning from failure.”
Dr Ayiku said the company would continue to make a conscious efforts in making home ownership in Ghana accessible to many young families, and individuals.
“Receiving these prestigious awards is not just a moment of celebration for Lakeside Estate, but a testament to the collective dedication and passion of every member of our team and the trust placed in us by our cherished residents and partners,” he said.
