Ladies of the Cross launches prayer programme for peaceful elections

Women prayer group, Ladies of the Cross (LOC), has launched its prayer programme to pray for the country for a peaceful December polls.

Dubbed “1000 Women in Prayer for Peace”, the programme is to galvanise women around the country to seek God’s favour upon the country before, during and after the polls.

Launching the initiative at the LOC’s annual thanksgiving ceremony in Accra on Saturday, president of the women group, Rev. Professor Gifty Lamptey, said there was the need for God to be part of the decision -making as to who gets the mandate to superintend over the country.

The service, on the theme: “Let My Horn Be Exalted”, was attended by members from across the country and sister organisations from the West African sub-region.

According to Prof. Lamptey, the prayer campaign was critical as God was needed in the affairs of men at all times.

Ghana, Rev. Professor Lamptey said, had become a beacon of democracy on the continent, and that everything possible, including the group interceding on behalf of the country, was needed to make the elections pass without a glitch.

She said as servants of God, they were of the conviction that everything was possible for God, and that God would be at hand to listen to their prayers and grant their heart desire of a united Ghana after the elections.

The maiden gathering of the group, she announced, would be on March 6, 2020 at the Trinity Theological Seminary here in Accra, and would be replicated in the other regions of the country.

She called on stakeholders in the electoral process to commit themselves to a peaceful campaign so that Ghana remained intact after the polls.

The objective of the LOC is to empower women and address their socio-economic challenges.
