International Driver and Vehicle Innovations Conference takes place October 10

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) launched its maiden International Driver and Vehicle Innovations Conference (IDVIC) in Accra.

The event, slated for October 10 will explore innovative and cutting-edge technologies towards enhancing safety and sustainability with regard to driver vehicle licensing.

It will also among others examine the role of public-private partnerships in re-inventing driver and vehicle licensing management and how they could contribute to sustainable development.

The conference will feature a range of speakers including Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia, and experts from the transport industry who will share their insights and experiences on the latest developments in transport technologies and systems.

It will be held on the theme; ‘The future of road transport.’

Launching it, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the DVLA, Mr Kwasi Agyeman Busia said achieving the desired transformation in Ghana’s road transport sector required collaboration among key stakeholders, government agencies, industry experts academia.

He explained that continuous dialogue and the sharing of best practices and experiences were essential in developing updated and comprehensive regulatory frameworks that align with international standards.

This collaborative approach he said would foster innovation, professionalism, and the seamless integration of advanced technologies with Ghana’s road transport ecosystem.

According to Mr Agyeman, technological advancement such as electric and hybrid vehicles, reduce emissions and contribute to a greener and more sustainable technological ecosystem.

Deputy Director, Research, Business Development and Innovation, Mr Abraham S. Zaato for his part stated that the transport sector was changing rapidly due to new technologies, business models and consumer expectation, adding that the conference would provide a platform for the discussion of such changes and how Ghana could prepare for them.
