Hopeway Orphanage presented with food, detergents, stationery

The English Assembly Children’s Ministry of the Church of Pentecost, TaifaDistrict, over the weekend, presented items worth GH¢10,000 to the Hopeway Orphanage at Haatso in the Ga East Municipal in the Greater Accra Region.

The items presented are assorted drinks, toiletries, bags of rice, beans, bags of sachet water, biscuits, freshly baked bread, boxes of nose masks and oil.

Others are detergents, sanitary pads, stationery, hand sanitisers, clothes, confectioneries and a cash amount of GH¢1,000.

Speaking with the Ghanaian Times after the donation, Mr Ishmael Owusu, presiding Elder of the Pentecost Church said the reason for this donation was to show love to the orphans and fulfil their social responsibility as a church.

“The Lord placed it on the hearts of the leadership that they should look for a place of this nature and come in with donations to show their love,” he revealed.

Mr Owusu said that this was the first of its kind for the HopewayOrphanage whilst promising his outfit’s readiness to provide more support to the orphanage.

He debunked the myths surrounding adoption such as “foster kids are out of control and adoption was not the best way to start a family,” explaining that “the bible highlight’s the importance of giving out to the needy and also adoption was a form of giving.”

Receiving the items, the resident director of the orphanage, Rev.Reindorf Ashley, expressed gratitude towards the Pentecost Church for their donation.

He called on the citizenry to show love to orphans and the needy to become better people in society saying “Ghanaians must always remember there are kids who had been abandoned, rescued from child labour and they all need this kind of help.”

He further appealed for more donations and contributions for Hopeway and all orphanages across the country, from benevolent members of society.
