GES indicts Jachie Pramso SHS headmaster over alleged flogging

THE Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted the headmaster of Jachie Pramso Senior High School (SHS) in the Ashanti Region, Francis Donkor, over the alleged flogging of a final year student.

According to the Service, the sanction which took effect on Tuesday, is pending investigations into the said incident that resulted in the student sustaining bruises at her back.

“He has been directed to hand over administration and management of the school to the Ashanti Regional Director of Education,” a short update posted by the GES on its official social media pages yesterday, said.

The victim, identified as Mary Amoako, a General Arts student, was reportedly lashed by the headmaster last Thursday for giving her cardigan to a male student whose unprescribed shirt was seized by the headmaster.

The headmaster, Mr Donkor, was said to have asked the bare-chested student to go to the dormitory and wear a school uniform before returning to the classroom.

Miss Amoako’s kind gesture, according to media reports, infuriated the headmaster who fished her out of the students and gave her multiple lashes at her back with a cane.

Pictures and videos of the bruises suffered have since gone viral on social media likewise police medical forms given her to visit the hospital.
