Gbese Mantse vows to unite all 104 c’nities

The Paramount Chief of the Gbese Traditional Area, Dr Nii Ayi Bonte II, has affirmed his commitment to unite all the 104 communities under his paramountcy, in order to bring about the needed development to the area.

He said the lack of development in the Ga state could largely be attributed to the disturbances and disunity in Gbese, stressing that “Gbese which is also the Adonteng of the Ga state is not only strategic and important, but also key to the development of Accra.

“When we at Gbese see the essence of unity and peace, the whole Ga state will follow suit and Accra would take its proper place in the scheme of things,” he added.

Nii Gbese said this at the outdooring and swearing-in ceremony of the new Sarpeiman Mantse, Nii Okai Saban Tatse I, and the heads of family for the Asafoiatse Christopher Brandford Nettey Family of Gbese and the Nii Laryea Family of Gbese Akotia Gwarren.

Nii Okai Saban Tatse I and the heads of family took their oath allegiance before the Gbese Mantse Nii Dr Ayi Bonte II in the presence of the Principal King maker, Dzaasetse of the Gbese Traditional Area, Nii Okai Kasablofo and the Akwashontse of Gbese Nii Ayi Addyfio.

Nii Gbese who is also the President of the Gbese Tradiional Council said the time had come for the people of Gbese to put away all their differences and forge ahead in unity.

“I want to tell all of you that, there are times for litigation and there are periods to end litigation. I think this is the time to end it and consider moving our state forward,” he emphasised.

Nii Gbese also urged the people of the Ga state to comply all the rules outline towards the celebration of this year’s homowo.

“We all know that the Ga Manye has passed on and so we are not allowed to sprinkle Kpoikpoi outdoors this year. I will therefore appeal to all families under Gbese to comply with this directive and not foment any trouble that will bring our name in disrepute,” he said.

On his part, the Principal King Maker of Gbese, Nii Okai Kasablofo admonished the newly enstooled Sarpei Mantse to work in harmony with other chiefs in the traditional area to ensure speedy development.

He called on the new heads of family to initiate the processes of resolving all outstanding dispute within their respective families, adding that “when Gbese is up and running, the whole Ga state will take back its past glory.”
