Ga Municipal Assembly retools Revenue Mobilisation Dept with 2 pickups

The Revenue Mobilisation Department of the Ga South Municipality Assembly (GSMA) on Friday received two double-cabin cross country (4X4) pickup vehicles from the management of the assembly, to enable it to increase the revenue mobilisation and collection of monies.

Presenting the vehicles, Mr Joseph Stephen Nyarni, the Municipal Chief Executive, said the vehicles worth GH¢500, 840.00 were procured from the assembly’s Internal Generated Fund (IGF).

Mr Nyarni said the vehicles were meant to support the revenue department and to help the officials work effectively and efficiently in mobilising enough monies for development projects in the municipality.

According to him, revenue mobilisation collection became an issue for the department, due to inadequate vehicles to collect the expected revenue target for the assembly.

He said the vehicles would motivate the department to work tirelessly and help accrue the much-needed revenue for the assembly.

He said the assembly was prepared to meet the needs and development of the people in the municipality, saying “it takes money to do that, hence, the urgency to meet the needs of the officials to work better and efficiently.”

On his part, the Member of Parliament (MP) of the Ngleshie Amanfrom Constituency, Mr Sylvester Tetteh, urged the workers to be up-and-doing and work harder to increase the revenue base of the assembly.

He cautioned the officials to be faithful in the collection of the monies from their clients and account for the exact monies they collected from them.

Mr Tetteh called on them to ensure the maintenance and use the vehicles for the purpose for which they were given.
