Father of Abesim murder suspect released

The father of the suspect in the Abesim murder case, was yesterday released from police custody.

According to police, the father was released because he is not directly connected with the case.

The police explained that although his house was the location the suspect kept the bodies of his victims; he had no knowledge of the action of his son, the prime suspect.

Richard Appiah, 28, the prime suspect, was arrested at Abesim, near Sunyani, in the Sunyani Municipality of Bono region, for allegedly killing three children and keeping meat suspected to be human remains in a fridge.

He allegedly murdered his stepbrother and two other boys between the ages of 12 and 15.

It was reported that the body of one of the victims was cut into pieces and some of the parts were allegedly kept in a double door fridge, found in a room in the house where Appiah lived.

Meanwhile, the intestines of one of the victims had been discovered by the police after it was buried on a farm at Abesim.

The intestines have been sent to Accra for pathological analysis and forensic examination.

The police also retrieved at the same location two sharp cutlasses which the suspect was alleged to have used for the crime.
