Deputy Rector of GIMPA commends graduate students’ leadership

The Deputy Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Professor Martin Morgan Tuuli, has commended the past and present graduate students’ leadership of the institute for their exemplary qualities.

This trait, he said, was worthy of emulation, and urged students to continue to have sense of responsibility in their endeavours.

Prof. Tuuli was speaking on Friday at the handing over and awards ceremony of the GIMPA chapter of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG-GIMPA), in Accra.

The event, which brought together heads of departments of the school and students, was on the theme: “Raising leaders to deal with problems confronting national development: The role of tertiary educational institutions.”

The awardees included the immediate past rector of the school, Prof. Philip Ebow Bondzi-Simpson, former Dean of Students, GIMPA, Prof Mawuli Sallar, former Chief Executive Officer of the National Identification Authority, Mr Osei Kwame Griffiths, and the Dean of Research and Graduate Studies, Prof. Wisdom Akpalu, among others.

According to Prof. Tuuli, the exemplary qualities of the student leaders contributed to peace at GIMPA.

“I want to particularly thank the GRASAG-GIMPA Executives for the examples that they set in terms of students’ leadership and how the Students’ Association managed to work closely with management to achieve the interest of students,” he said.

Prof. Tuuli, advising the newly inducted leadership of GRASAG-GIMPA, called on the new executives to emulate the traits of their predecessors.

Prof. Akpalu, Patron of GRASAG-GIMPA, and the Dean of the School of Research and Graduate Studies (SRGS), GIMPA, asked the past and new GRASAG-GIMPA executives to protect their integrity wherever they found themselves.

A former Dean of Students of GIMPA, Prof.Anthony Sallar, who chaired the occasion, expressed gratitude to GRASAG-GIMPA for recognising him as having contributed to the success of the students’ association.

Mr Iddi Yire, immediate past president, GRASAG-GIMPA, expressed gratitude to management, faculty, staff and students of the institute for giving him the opportunity to serve as the president of GRASAG-GIMPA.

He said during his tenure, the GRASAG-GIMPA Virtual Seminar Series was initiated to equip members with knowledge on research and corporate world, and payment of school fees and registration were extended, among others.

Alhaji Yussif Baba Suleman, the new President of GRASAG-GIMPA, pledged that his administration would continue with the good works of his predecessors.
