CV review clinic held for job seekers

The SNV Netherlands Development Organisation has organised a Curriculum Vitae (CV) review clinic to edit the CVs of job seekers to prepare them for the job market.

It was in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Labour Department, Association of Ghana Industries and Ghana Chamber of Young Entrepreneurs (GCYE).

The two-day clinic saw about 200 job seekers who converged at the Labour Office at Asafo, Kumasi, to have their CVs edited to suit employers’ demand.

It would offer a great platform to the job seekers who would be connected to potential employers in an upcoming second GrEEN Regional Job Fair to be held in Ashanti and Western Regions in November 15 and 22, respectively.

The Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEN) project, funded by the European Union in Ghana, is being co-implemented by SNV Ghana and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF).

It would be under the theme, “Green and Circular Economy: A sure way To Creating Decent and Sustainable Employment and Jobs”.

The GrEEn Job Fairs aim at supporting the creation of jobs and marching job seekers to available and sustainable jobs in the two regions.

Labour Officer of the Labour Department, Frank Agyei Boakye, in an interview, was happy the exercise would pave way for the job seekers to secure jobs to reduce the unemployment rate in the country.

“The review of the CVs is very vital for job seeking as it will match what employers are looking for… we have already met with employers and it will be a big opportunity for the participants during the job fairs”.

Mr Sherif Ghali, Chief Executive Officer of the GCYE, said the clinic was a good precursor to the job fairs, and also was hopeful a good number of the participants would be securing jobs during the upcoming event.

He urged the youth, in particular, to take advantage of such opportunities to secure jobs to better their lives.

SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, is a non-profit international development organisation that makes difference in the lives of people living in poverty by helping them raise income and access basic services.

Since 2020, it has held 10 job fairs at the district and regional levels in partnership with local assemblies to providing CV support, career guidance and counselling and connecting job seekers to green employers.
