Christian charity NGO unveiled in Accra

The Ghana Chapter of Daughters of Zion International Fellowship (DOZIF), a Christian charity and non-governmental organisation (NGO), has been launched in Accra with a focus to bring relief to the less privileged in societies, and enhance women’s spiritual empowerment and development.

The event was preceded by a three-day conference which was on the theme; “Fruitful women,” which is aimed at empowering women to be fruitful, while thriving to be an agent of change in their societies.

Reverend Dr Delight Olise said being fruitful in its sense did not mean childbearing, but goes beyond that by saying “the bible says be fruitful and multiply which means to add to what’s already there or produce more of something.”

She charged women to help build the Church and use their gifts to “mold, shape, expand and maintain peace” in their various spheres of life.

The coordinator of the programme, Reverend Wisdom Ocansey, said the conference was to affect the lives of women who struggle to identify their God-given talents to be fruitful in the society.

He stated that women were the “neck that turned the head,” the vessel God used for reproduction, nation builders as well as destructors, and a people that could endure, intercede, teach, mold and above all, have stronger faith.

Rev. Ocansey entreated all women to be encouraged in their capacities and not to be idle about, but rather work hard to ensure their satisfaction in life, saying every woman must find something to do even if it means learning a trade.

He said as part of their future activities, they would use the gospel to engage in charity works with disadvantaged children and women, especially widows and orphans to bring relief to a successful life.

The Ghana Coordinator of DOZIF, Mrs Comfort Ocansey, promised to replicate the good works the sister chapters were doing in Kenya and Nigeria.
