Chicago Asanteman Association  donates 98 beds to KATH

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has taken delivery of 98 general ward beds donated by the Chicago branch of the Asanteman Association in the United States of America.

The beds, valued at $300,000, are fully electrical.

Chief of the branch’s Association, Nana Addai Baffour, said the gesture followed the advice the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu ll, had been giving to them to be contributing immensely to the development of Asanteman and Ghana in general.

He said, the association had adopted the A1 ward of the KATH to refurbish it and would do all possible to put smiles on the faces of patients.

“We will never relent in our efforts to contribute to the development of the hospital,” he indicated.

Dr Kwadwo Sarbeng, Medical Director and the Acting Chief Executive of the KATH, received the items and thanked the association for a great work done.

He said the hospital would put into good use the items as the (items) were really needed for patients.

Mrs Georgina Afua, Nursing Director of the KATH, added her voice to the commendations to the Association saying the items would really serve a purpose.
