A 50-year-old woman has been arrested by the police for allegedly stealing a two-year-old girl in Mankessim, in the Central Region.
Esi Beniwa, suspect, reportedly kidnapped and concealed the victim in a plastic bucket in the Mfantseman municipality.
According to eyewitnesses, residents, who realised the act, cried for help and rushed to the scene and found the child with Beniwa after opening the bucket.
In an interview with the mother of the child, Janet Ampah, she said the suspect pretended to be parent of the baby and put her in the bucket when no one was watching.
The girl’s father, Kofi Essel, was surprised that such a thing could happen and urged parents to monitor their children to ensure their safety. -JOYNEWS
