Apsonic Ghana donates GH¢270, 000 items to GA/R police command

The Greater Accra Regional (GAR) Police Command has received items worth GH¢270, 000 from Apsonic Ghana, a motorcycle dealership company, to boost its operations.

The items included 18 motorbikes, 2000 reflector jackets and 1000 pieces of key holders.

The move formed part of the motorbike dealership company’s corporate social responsibilities.

Speaking at a ceremony to hand over the items to the police, Manager of Apsonic Ghana, Mr Abdul Karim Nasam, said his outfit found it necessary to support the security sector of the country because it believed in the role security played in national development.

He said the donation to the GAR Police was not the first philanthropic gesture his outfit had undertaken to boost the country’s security, adding that Apsonic Ghana would continue to do its best in supporting every effort of government at improving security in Ghana.

“We strongly believe that it is the responsibility of everybody to contribute towards making Ghana safer everyday that is why we occasionally embark on activities that will help increase Police visibility in every part of the country to combat crime and respond swiftly to distress calls.”

“These motorcycles are not just ordinary, they are high powered motorbikes that can perform extraordinarily. This is how we can support and we assure you that this gesture which did not start today will continue as long as we remain in business,” Mr Abdul Karim added.

Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Ghana, Mr Wen Fulin in his remarks said collaboration between the private sector and the government for developmental purposes was very necessary, saying such moves promoted speedy development instead of leaving all aspects of progression of the nation to the government alone to handle.

He commended Apsonic Ghana for the gesture and urged other private entities to emulate the move.

Personnel of the Ghana Police Service, he said, were doing tremendously well in terms of dedication to their responsibilities, adding that when the police, Ghana Armed Forces and all other security agencies received adequate support they would do much better.

The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Dr Sayibu Pabi Gariba thanked Apsonic Ghana for the gesture and assured that the items received would be used solely for the intended purpose.

He indicated that the motorcycles would be used to combat crime and also protect lives and assets of the people.

The Commander assured that his outfit would remain dedicated to fighting crime by providing the best of policing service.

“Servicing the public is our principal objective and as law enforcers, we will ensure we also abide by the laws ourselves so that together we will all make Ghana safer and more peaceful,” he added.
