adb holds thanksgiving service

The adb Bank has held a non-denominational annual thanksgiving service with a declaration to be among the top five banks in the country by end of this year.

On the theme: “Be thankful unto Him and bless His name for the Lord is Good,” the service was attended by management and staff of the state-owned bank from across the country.

Adorned in all white, the bankers danced to music provided by the evergreen Daughters of Glorious Jesus, one of Ghana’s celebrated gospel musical groups.

Addressing the congregation here in Accra at the weekend, the Board Chairman of the Bank, Alex Bernasko, said a great future lies ahead of the bank.

“That future looks brighter than it has ever been,” he said to a loud amen from the congregants.

“By the end of this year, we should and must be among the top five banks in the country,” he added to a standing ovation from the worshipers.

According to Mr Bernasko, management had put in place measures to realise the vision of a top-five spot following the cleanup in the financial sector.

These include fully complying with the Bank of Ghana’s corporate governance directives and the regulatory and prudential guidelines, which he said were basic, if the bank was to grow.

Additionally, Mr Bernasko said the bank has adopted a healthy loan administration scheme to deal with the issue of non-performing loans which have been a challenge to the bank in the past.

Interdepartmental cooperation, performance management, amongst other internal policies, he said, have been formulated in pursuit of the target.

The adb under his leadership, he said, has posted satisfactory results, making profits after a string of losses in the past.

He urged the workers to give their all to the growth of the 55-year-old bank to the betterment of the country.

Mr Bernasko urged the customers of the bank, some who were among the congregation, to spread the good news of the bank but not hesitate to suggest to them how same could be bettered.
