92,225 Adenta residents vaccinated against COVID-19

A Health Director,Dr Jeffery Arhin, of the Adentan Municipal Assembly (AdMA) has revealed that out of a total of 237,546 persons in the Municipality, 149,678 residents, representing 63 per cent, were eligible to take the vaccine.

Meanwhile, 92,225, representing 62 percent of these residents, have been vaccinated as at 16th February, 2022, leaving about 38 per cent, about 57,453 residents, yet to be vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic.

So far, about 50,534, representing 55 per cent, had taken both the first and second doses as against 41,691, representing 45 per cent, who had taken only the first dose awaiting the second one.

Dr Arhin, therefore, encouraged the citizenry to continue taking their subsequent jabs to reduce the risk of spreading the virusacross the country.

The Ghanaian Times noticed that some centres had many people partaking in the exercise while other centres had few people waiting for their turn to take the  jab

.

According to some nurses at centres where there were fewer people, people were not trooping in because of the numerous negative rumours that circulated around the vaccines.

In an exclusive interview, Mr Arhin said the rumours engendered fear, doubt and set back the progress made against combating the pandemic as that was disturbing.

“Our team have been working tirelessly to engage people from the regional level, district level and the sub district level to take their jabs. So far is good and we are hoping people would consistently show up”.

He added that more education and encouragement should be given to citizens in order for them to understand its importance and help curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the country.

Kofi Asamoah, a driver, said after he had taken the first jab, the discomfort was too much and that had changed his mind on taking the subsequent jabs.

“The headaches, arm pains and weakness in my body slowed my movement and work pace, that is why I don’t want to get the subsequent dose”.

Mrs Agartha Nkrumah said she was already having issues with her knee and was scared to get paralysed if she took the jabs.

“I am aging so my knee is always hurting, I hear sometimes these drugs causes death and make one paralyse so I am scared”.
