Two policemen have been detained at Kasoa in the Central Region for killing a man at a drinking bar on Friday.

Corporal Samuel Boamah and Lance Corporal Isifu Tahiru, who have been named as the policemen involved in the incident, reportedly went to the JVC Drinking Spot at Kasoa High Tension to celebrate the Farmers’ Day holiday.

The deceased, identified as Musah Mohammed, 22, was said to have been gunned down by one of the police men at the bar.

Relating the incident, Public Relations Officer of the Central Regional Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Irene Oppong, explained that a brawl broke out between the officers and some other customers including the deceased.

During the heated exchanges, she said one of the officers took his sidearm and shot at the young man, killing him on the spot.

She noted that the death of the young man resulted in chaos all over until police arrived at the scene to arrest the two officers and calm the situation down.

DSP Oppong said the police are treating the case as a murder case and the locked-up policemen are assisting in investigations.
