1974 Awudome SHS year group donates to Alma Mater

The 1974 year-group of Awudome Senior High School in the Ho West District has donated 30 metal bond beds valued at GH¢30,000 to their alma mater at the weekend.

The donation was in response to a request by management of the school  to help save students from sleeping with mattresses on the floor.

Presenting the beds at a brief ceremony at the school, Mr David Seshie, chairman of the year group noted that “we must not in anyway forget what we achieved in the school and as old students we must give back to our alma mater.

He noted that he always held the view that it is always through education that talents are shaped and human resource of any country is consolidated.

“It is for this reason that the year group from those abroad and home found it not just necessary but expedient to support the school with these metal beds to help students sleep in comfort for their academic work, ” Mr Seshie said.

He explained that the 1974 year group has the school at heart, adding that we cannot turn our backs against the school in times of need.

Receiving the items, the headmaster of the school, Mr Courage Meteku, expressed his gratitude for the gesture stressing, it disturbed him a lot seeing our young students sleeping on the floor. l am happy you have come to help us.”

The headmaster noted further that bed bugs infestation has become rampant in our educational institutions in these times adding one way to curb the menace is the provision of iron beds.

He also enumerated the catalogue of challenges facing the school among them is more infrastructures and a new school bus for the school.

Awudome Senior High School was established in 1963 by the Native Teachers Association of Tsito with a little over 60 students and currently has a population of 2,432 students.
