66 Artillery Regiment organise medical outreach for citizens of Kpenoe

As part of the 2019 Ghana Army Week celebrations, the 66 Artillery Regiment at Ho last Wednesday organised a medical outreach for more than 50 people at Kpenoe in the Volta Region.

The celebration, which has become an important annual programme on the Army’s calendar, aimed at protecting the professional image of the military, and at the same time enable the service interact with the civil populace in a bid to foster a close relationship

The theme for the year’s celebration was, “Ghana Army: Providing Security for National Development.”

Lt-Col Bernard Baba Pantoah, Commanding Officer of the 66 Artillery Regiment, Ho, stated that the Regiment chose Kpenoe for the outreach because they had been operating on their land since its establishment, hence the need to maintain a cordial relationship with the people of Kpenoe.

Lt-Col Pantoah said the medical outreach was to show appreciation for the support the people had been giving to the regiment, and urged them to visit the regiment’s hospital for treatment.

Togbe Kotoku XI, the paramount chief of the Kpenoe Traditional Area commended the 66 Artillery Regiment for organising the free medical screening for the people of Kpenoe, and stated that, the good relationship between the Army and Kpenoe had made it possible for them to benefit from the free medical services.

He urged the citizens to take advantage of the screening to know their health status, and advised the youth to take their education seriously to qualify to join the military.

The medical services provided included, checking for hepatitis B virus, diabetes, malaria, pulse rate and body mass index.

Other activities to mark the celebration included cleanup exercise within the Ho Central market and an all ranks dance at the Seidu Abass swimming pool at Volta Barracks.
