Brig-Gen Michael Agyapong pulled-out of 37 Military Hospital

A pull-out ceremony was yesterday held for outgoing Brigadier General Michael Akwasi Yeboah Agyapong, Commander of the 37 Military Hospitals in Accra.

Brig-Gen Agyapong, upon his retirement served in various capacities in the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for 36 years and was succeeded by Colonel Nii Adjali Obodai as the new Commander of the hospital

Addressing staff of the hospital, Brigadier General Agyapong said, his tenure had witnessed significant infrastructural developments.

He noted that with the support of the Military High Command, the old dilapidated Central Sterile Service Department building had been transformed into an ultra-modern Blood Bank.

He said the delivery room of the Yebuah Ward of the facility had also been refurnished with modern equipment to enhance healthcare delivery.

“We also embarked on a systematic approach of replacing some of the obsolete medical equipments by acquiring monitors, infusion pumps, surgical power drill, medical air compress to wards and departments.

The hospital had also migrated onto the electronic medical records system to bring into realisation the long held dream of the hospital to improve its data by going paperless,” he said.

He noted that electronic system had also improved the hospital data system, reduced patient waiting time, eliminated incidence of lost folders and facilitated monitoring and report generation.

Brig-Gen Agyapong said the third phase of the hospital expansion project was also on the drawing board to provide additional 700 beds, offices, consulting rooms, diagnosis and interventional equipments.

He noted that the facility would also include a nursing and midwifery college, a post graduate college and a new administration complex for the facility.

Brig-Gen Agyapong urged staffs of the facilities to provide patients who visit the hospital with good healthcare services.
