KKMA donates 500 dual desks to selected schools in municipality

The Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) yesterday donated 500 pieces of dual desks worth GH₵145,000.00 to the Kpone-Katamanso Educational Directorate for distribution to selected schools in the area.

Making the presentation the chief Executive Officer of KKMA, Mr Samuel Okoe Amankwah, advised the management of beneficiary schools to take good care of the furniture so that they would last long.

“We know that some of the children may from time to time break a desk or two but try and repair them as they happen so that we will have adequate supply for everybody”, he said.

He said the assembly regarded education as a priority and was poised to use it as a tool to alleviate poverty, ignorance and help improve the quality of life in the municipality.

Receiving the desks the Educational Director for Kpone-Katamanso, Mr Harry E. Arthur, thanked Mr Amankwah for the gesture and promised that they would make good use of the furniture and ensure that they were well maintained.

He said the donation; the third to be received within the spate of four years would help provide quality education in the municipality.

Mr Arthur said another challenge facing the directorate was how to expand infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of school children in the area.

“Some of our classrooms carry between 100 to 120 children making it difficult to give enough attention to every child,” he said.

Mr Arthur therefore,  appealed to corporate bodies in the area to support government by constructing more classrooms to enhance quality education.
