83 inducted into LFG Alumni Network in Accra

Eighty-three youth were at the weekend inducted into the Lead For Ghana (LFG) Alumni Network at a ceremony in Accra.

LFG is a youth development organisation with a focus on education that recruits and trains graduates known as Fellows, and places them in underserved schools across the country to combat educational inequity and enhance learning outcomes.

The event started with the LFG Polo Tournament, representing a beacon of hope with the collective strides towards ensuring that every child in Ghana has access to quality education.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LFG, Daniel Dokye commended the transformative journey of the 2021 cohorts who have become instrumental architects of a brighter educational landscape.

“As I stand here today, it fills me with immense pride to address a room filled with individuals who are not just alumni but architects of a better tomorrow,” he said.

The CEO applauded the Fellows dedication, stating that their efforts have not only transformed lives but have also illuminated a beacon of hope for the future, reflecting on the alumni’s collective achievements and their role in shaping the educational sector in Ghana.

He remarked, “As you step forward from this moment, you carry more than just the title of Alumni, you carry a responsibility and a promise to continue being agents of change, not just in Ghana but across Africa and the world.”

Mr Dokye highlighted the skills, knowledge, and values acquired through LFG, which have equipped the Fellows to tackle challenges, innovate solutions, and lead with integrity and passion.

“As ambassadors of change, you have the power to influence and inspire, whether through further education, community projects, or leadership roles,” he said, emphasising on the unique opportunity the alumni possess in shaping a future where education is a fundamental right, ensuring every child has the chance to unfold their potential.

He underscored the collective strength of the LFG Alumni, forming a network of support, collaboration, and shared vision. Together, he asserted, they can create waves of change that transcend for others and future generations.

The Municipal Director of Education for Krachi West, Irene Jacquelinda Attabra expressed gratitude to LFG for being a beneficiary of the programme and having to experience the Fellows’ impactful presence in her district.

She praised the collaborative efforts, especially the consistent interaction with the Zonal leads from the LFG programme, demonstrating an inclusive approach to decision-making and implementation.

The headmistress of the Krachi Senior High School (SHS) lauded the Fellows for their initiatives outside the classroom, including infrastructural improvements and community engagement.

“Notable among these were the renovation of a classroom block, construction of a pavilion as a staff room, donation of furniture, and the initiation of the “Academic Clinic” project, aimed at reshaping students’ mindsets and promoting higher education,” she added.

While acknowledging the challenges faced by the district which includes teacher and furniture deficits, poor infrastructure, and limited interest in pursuing higher education among learners, the Municipal Director expressed gratitude for the transformative impact of the 2021 Fellows, noting improvements in addressing these challenges.

Awards were presented to some alumni, acknowledging their special dedication in various categories such as Most Influential and Female, Region Gender Inequality, Influencing Stakeholders and School Leadership, Entrepreneurial Spirit, among others.
