THE Minority in Parliament has called for the complete withdrawal of CSE

THE Minority in Parliament has called for the complete withdrawal of the controversial Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) policy from Ghana’s education curriculum.

At a press conference addressed by the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, in Accra on Friday, the caucus urged Ghanaians to remain vigilant, resolute and be determined to collectively “resist this sinister and evil force on the prowl in our dear nation as the battle has not yet been won.”

The demands of the Minority come in the wake of criticism after it came to light that the CSE was scheduled to be rolled out in the next academic year.

Led by the clergy, there are fears among the crusaders against the CSE that it is a subtle agenda through the syllabus to promote Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) plan.

The government, through the Education Minister, meanwhile, has rebuffed the claims, arguing that the curricula approved by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) for KG to primary six does not include CSE.

“The curriculum framework (KG –P6) approved by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment for use in the development of school curriculum, which has been approved by Cabinet…..does not include CSE,” Sector Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh told a media conference in Accra on Tuesday.

But the Minority said Dr Opoku’s denials were preposterous as there were documented evidence pointing to the fact that the country was set to roll out the “satanic” education policy.

According to the Minority, government, on the blind side of the people had signed Ghana up to the Programme Acceleration Countries (PAC) initiative which involves six African countries for the implementation of the CSE.

“We are deeply concerned that at a time many countries are prioritising the teaching of Mathematics, Science, Coding, Artificial Intelligence and Climate Change; our government’s focus is on Comprehensive Sexuality Education in the service of an evil LGBT agenda,” Haruna Iddrisu lamented.

All funds collected in addition to manuals, guidelines, teacher resource packs and curriculum should be returned to the external promoters, he charged.

The caucus also alleged that with an assurance to “overcome social resistance and operational constraints” to the Swedish government, funders of the initiative, Ghana government has so far received $US22million from the Swedish for the initiative.

“The Minority is also aware that Government and the UNFPA have entered into an agreement for the UNFPA to provide CSE technical support to the Ghana Education Service,” Haruna Iddrisu, MP, Tamale South added.

Describing President Akufo-Addo as the “lead anchor” for the introduction of LGBT in Ghana, Haruna Iddrisu said that was why the President in that famous interview with Doha based Aljazeera failed to state his position on LGBTQI but to say there wasn’t sufficient activism and that if such advocacy proved strong then “it is bound to happen.”

Accusing the President of “moral and cultural terrorism,” the Minority leader said the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will “resist” any move to introduce CSE into Ghanaian schools either now or in the future.
