The initial board of OpenAI will be chaired by Bret Taylor, with Larry Summers and Adam D’Angelo also joining. Altman expressed his excitement about the future and gratitude for the team’s hard work, praising its independence and solidarity in hesitant times. He believes OpenAI’s resilience and spirit set them apart and expressed confidence in its mission.

In a separate letter, Bret Taylor, the board chair, expressed gratitude to the OpenAI community and emphasised plans for strengthening corporate governance, as he stated on behalf of the board. He stressed that the company aims to build a qualified, diverse board, stabilise the organisation, and enhance the governance structure of OpenAI to benefit the whole AI community.
