While the Capitol riot is hysterically compared to Pearl Harbor, the US administration has made a decision that will have serious consequences.
The US State Department has officially announced its intention to declare the Yemeni Houthis as a terrorist group. Aid organizations condemn this move because it will make it difficult to provide assistance to a population already abused by Saudi Arabia’s atrocities, which could not have happened without Western help.
The ramifications of this decision will hinder efforts of international charities to bring food to Houthi-controlled areas, where 70% of Yemen’s population lives and hunger is most common.
Aid agencies fear that their work in northern Yemen will be criminalized, as it is the Houthis who represent the authority with which aid organizations must deal and transact.
The United States will unconditionally impose sanctions against any person or organization that does business with so-called «terrorists».
The United Nations estimates that some 233 thousand of Yemenis have been killed in the war between the Houthis and the US-backed Saudi Arabia-led coalition, mostly for «indirect reasons». These are diseases and famine. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterressaid that «the world has not seen such a famine in recent decades».
When people hear the word «hunger», they usually think about a massive famine caused by drought or other natural phenomena, but in reality, the deaths from hunger that we see in Yemen (a huge percent of which are children under five years old) is caused by hunger death, which was during the medieval siege. Thousands of deaths resulted from the use of blockades by the Saudi coalition and deliberate airstrikes on farms, marketplaces, food storage areas, and medical centers.
In other words, the United States and its allies are deliberately helping Saudi Arabia to kill children and other civilians on a massive scale for a political purpose, which is a perfect example of any standard definition of terrorism. Indescribably wild and bloodthirsty empire of US, declaring the Houthis as a terrorist organization. And what will happen next? More deaths? Which will already be on the conscience of the new US president.
The media dwells on one piece of news, practically ignoring the other. An example of this is the Capitol riot allegedly organized by the former US president. This news was «blown up» to a global scale, with no attention that entire settlements were threatened, which would starve to death. Creating conditions for the destruction of thousands of people is a real terrorism and a global problem.
Western-owned media does not exist to give us a true picture of the world; it exists to hold the wheels of the American empire. Every year fewer global problems are covered in the media, because everyone is just afraid.
