 Producer Price Inflation falls to 25.1% in September

 The country’s Producer Price Inflation (PPI) for September fell to 25.1 per cent from 28.2 per cent in Au­gust, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), has stated.

This represents a decrease of 3.1 per cent and a month-month change rate of 2.7 per cent.

The Government Statistician, Professor Samuel K. Annim, who disclosed this in Accra yesterday, when he released the September PPI, said the September PPI figure was provisional and would be updated as more data were generated.

He said industry recorded the highest rate of producer inflation in September, stating that produc­er price inflation fell to 26.6 per cent in September from 30.4 per cent in August.

Prof. Annim said the producer price inflation for the construction in September fell to 23.1 per cent from 24.6 per cent in August.

“The producer price inflation for the service sector rose to 16.1 per cent in September from 15.5 per cent in August,” he stated.

Prof. Annim said electricity and gas (50.9 per cent), mining and quarrying (33.5 per cent), transportation and storage (28.8 per cent), water supply, sewerage waste, management (27.6 per cent), recorded producer price in­flation below the national average of 25.1 per cent.

He said accommodation and food service activities (24.0 per cent), construction (2.1 per cent), manufacturing (16 per cent), and information and communication (13.3 per cent), recorded producer price inflation below the national average.
