Islamic organisation donates to needy schools

The Centre for Scientific Studies and Social Services (CSSSS), a humanitarian organisation based in Accra, has distributed educational materials to needy schools across the country to improve teaching and learning.

The items included mathematical sets, books, pen and pencils, school bags and were procured with the support of Jamiyat Tabirya Islamiya, a humanitarian organisation based in Bahrain, in the Persian Gulf.

The beneficiary schools were Darul Hijra at Mamobi; Nurudeen Islamic School, Kanda; and Madarssatu A-Rusidi Al-Islamiya, all in the Greater Accra.

The rest were Adabu Islamic School at Adidome, Nadarasatul Makasidi Islamiya, Aflao and Aflavenue Nadarasatul Makasidi Islamiya, in the West Tongu District, all in the Volta Region.

Markazu Madarasa in the Bole District in the Savannah Region also had its share of the items.

The headmasters of the various schools received the items on behalf of their schools and expressed appreciation for the kind gesture, promising to use the items for its intended purpose.

For his part the Chief Executive Officer of the CSSSS, Sheikh Uthman Abdul Hamid, called on the school children to take advantage of the teaching and learning materials donated to their various schools to study hard.

He said the centre decided to intervene, after an assessment of the areas in which it operates showed some of the communities and schools were facing challenges with learning and teaching materials.

Sheikh Abdul Hamid advised them to desist from any activities that would ruin their lives, and expressed the continuous support of the centre to improve teaching and learning in needy schools and communities.

The CSSSS was formed 19 years ago as an NGO with the main aim of assisting the people, mostly the youth to acquire both Islamic and secular education.

Since its inception, the centre has assisted in the building of edifices and distribution of items for educational and religious purposes.
