Fury wants another big fight

Tyson Fury’s wife believes he is ‘itching for another fight’ and is not serious about retiring from professional boxing.

The Gypsy King revealed on Good morning Britain he would only consider returning to the ring against OleksandrUsyk in an undisputed world title bout if he was offered £500million.

The WBC champion has claimed to be retired since late April but then announced on Tuesday that he would not be hanging up his gloves just yet.

And wife Paris – who wanted him to retire after he defended his WBC belt against Deontay Wilder in October – is also dubious about how long he will stay away from the ring, but harbours hopes he has retired for good.

‘I’d like him to retire,’ Paris told Piers Morgan on his TalkTV show on Wednesday night.

‘But there’s something in the back of my mind saying he’s itching for another fight. It’s there – woman’s instinct, there’s something still calling him out there.

‘As the wife, I just look and wonder ”are you done?” I hope he is. I hope he chooses another path but honestly, I think there is a question mark there.’

Fury remains undefeated in his 33 professional fights to date and has only failed to win one of them, having been sent crashing to the canvas in his first fight with Wilder in 2018.

And Paris revealed she asked her husband to stop fighting after the stalemate in Los Angeles, but added his desire to fight again after that means she is left with doubts about how serious he is about stepping away this time.

‘After the first fight with Deontay Wilder I begged him not to fight again,’ she added.

‘And then he fought again and now he’s saying he’s quit again. I just don’t think it’s the end. I just wonder. You never know, we’ll wait and see.’

Fury announced his retirement after defending his WBC heavyweight belt with a stunning uppercut against Dillian Whyte in the sixth round at Wembley in April.
