Ho Municipal Assembly endorses new MCE

A FORMER Assemblyman, Mr Prosper Kofi Pi-Bansah was yesterday endorsed as the new Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ho.

All the 41 assembly members present voted in favour of Mr Pi-Bansah to represent the Loboli electoral area in Ho-Ahoe for two terms running.

The scene at the municipal assembly premises took a festive note after the Electoral Commission announced the result of the votes cast.

In his maiden speech to the house, Mr Pi-Bansah, a former teacher of the then Ho Technical University, pledged to work with the house to commit great zeal and recourses to addressing the health and sanitation challenges facing the municipality and also revive the Kpenoe-Takla-Hodzo road among other abandoned development projects.

On education, Mr Pi-Bansah said that he would work with the existing structures in the interim while involving various stakeholders of diverse opinions to move that sector forward in the municipality.

Meanwhile, the new MCE vowed to stem out criminals in the area by ‘empowering’ the security agencies to deal with gangsters and other villains in the municipality swiftly and ruthlessly.

“The security of the citizens in the municipality is paramount and critical to development of our area,” he stated.

The new MCE paid glowing tribute to his predecessor, Mr John Nelson Akorli, saying that his contribution to the development and growth of the municipality was praiseworthy.

Present were the Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa; Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Rev Johnson Avuletey; traditional rulers and some DCEs.

Until his endorsement as MCE, Mr Pi-Bansah was the Ho municipal head of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).
