A Ghanaian based in the United States (US), Kwame Orison, has donated assorted items worth over GHC200,000 to some schools and health directorate in Kpeve in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region, to help address some of their pressing needs.
He told the Ghanaian Times that items were generous contributions from Crievewood United Methodist Church of Nashville in the US, where he worships.
Mr. Orison, popularly known as “Fo Kefa” made the donations last week, the fourth of its kind since 2020, while on vacation in the country.
The items included 24 desktops and accessories, printers, laptops, routers, stereo speakers, dry erase markers, soccer balls, basket balls, sanitary pads, used clothes and shoes, among others.
The beneficiary schools were Kpeve Model basic school, Kpeve old town D/A school, Todome basic school, Mawuku Girls School in Ho.
Fo Kefa said he owed it a duty as a native of the town in the diaspora to support the community each time he came home, as part of his responsibility, to help address some basic needs of the schools and health institutions.
He expressed the hope that his widow’s mite would help enhance teaching and learning in the schools.
Mr Orison entreated pupils and students to take their studies seriously to become assets and help build the nation, while commending the school authorities for their unwavering commitment to teaching and learning.
The Headteacher of Kpeve EP New Town Basic School, Eric ‘Junior’ Wura, who received the items on behalf of his school, expressed appreciation for the kind gesture and promised to put the items to good use.
