SSNIT engages UENR students as brand ambassadors

In an effort to address low level social security among the working population in the country, the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has engaged some students of the University of Energy and Natural Resources in the Bono Region as its brand ambassadors.

The 14 SSNIT Brand Ambassadors of UENR are expected to educate members of the university community, potential workers among others on the benefits of the SSNIT scheme.

The Head of External Communications, Public Affairs Department of SSNIT, Mr Charles Akwei Garshong briefing the Ghanaian Times here in Sunyani  said the project currently being piloted in eight tertiary institutions across the country was expected to be scaled up to cover more schools in the future.

The Brand Ambassadors he said would periodically receive briefings and training on SSNIT investments and benefits to enable them to carry out their duties effectively, adding that they would also have the opportunity to do their industrial attachment and National Service with SSNIT to sharpen their professional competencies among others.

Mr Akwei Garshong said the decision by management of SSNIT to involve students on its membership drive was because they were the next working generation who needed to be empowered to be abreast with their Social Security before entering the world of work.

The Sunyani Area Representative of SSNIT, Mr Sylvester Teprey edged the Brand Ambassadors to live exemplary life as expected of them until they finish their education.

The SRC President of UENR and a member of the team Joseph Adomako expressed confidence in his team to live up to expectation so as to achieve the purpose of the project.
